Cellworks Clinical Advisor Dr. Chi Van Dang, MD, PhD, is the Scientific Director of the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research. Prior to this, he served as the Director of the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine. He joined The Wistar Institute as a Professor in July of 2017. He is a member of the National Academy of Medicine and a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts & Sciences. He is Chairman of the National Cancer Institute’s Board of Scientific Advisors. He has served as the Editor-in-chief of Cancer Research.
Dr. Dang is celebrated for his contributions to cancer cell signaling and metabolism. His research explaining the Warburg effect and the role of MYC in regulation of metabolic processes have been pivotal to the treatment of cancer.
He completed his B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Michigan and his Ph.D. in Chemistry from Georgetown University. He completed his medical degree from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology. He has received Hematology-Oncology training at UCSF.
